“Have patience. All things are difficult before they become easy.” – Saadi
We would all love it if the world went exactly the way we want. We make a plan, and everything falls into place. We take some chances, and every potential roadblock disappears. We make some assumptions, charge ahead, and find out that every single one of our assumptions was perfectly accurate.
Of course that’s ridiculous. Rarely does everything fall into place. Rarely do all the roadblocks disappear. Rarely are all our assumptions perfectly accurate. That’s just not how the world works. The future is hazy at best, and no matter how much data we study, or how in tune we are with our intuition, we’re never going to be able to see the future with perfect clarity.
So, deal with it. Accept that and move forward anyway. One of the barriers that leaders deal with is the idea that they have to be right, or that they can’t make mistakes. When the future is hazy, and they know that no matter what they do it won’t be perfect, so many leaders freeze. Rather than make a mistake, they do nothing – which is an even bigger mistake.
Trying to make change or grow or whatever you’re trying to do is going to be difficult. There’s no easy button, there’s no magic spell, there’s no way it’s ever going to be a walk in the park. That’s not how life is. It’s difficult.
But that’s why leaders matter. If everything always worked out perfectly, we really wouldn’t need leaders. We could just let everything run on autopilot and things would be great. Everybody could just do their thing, and we’d all get the results we want.
Don’t give up or get frustrated because things are difficult, or because they don’t go exactly the way you were hoping. Accept that the world works like that, and then go make an impact. Take the initiative.
Know that even though things won’t go exactly how you wish, you can still get where you want to go. It won’t be easy, but nothing worth attaining is, nor should it be. Get to work.
