We often wonder why some businesses are so much better than others, even though they sell the same products and services. Why is this the case?

Studies of businesses indicate that rather than simply being slightly more successful than their competitors, the top firms are often three or four times more successful.  Research into the reasons for success concluded that such levels of superior performance were not an accident.

There are a number of attributes that characterize the highly successful organization.  Here is a list of the top three:

1. A strong sense of identity felt throughout the organization.
2. An openness to change.
3. Authority diffused broadly throughout the organization.

Think about your business.  On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your business NOW for each of those factors?  For your business to be successful, WHERE do those scores need to be?
