“Death is a challenge. It tells us not to waste time.” – Leo Buscaglia
One of our keys to success in 2014 is the idea of being a challenger (read this if you have no idea what I’m talking about). We’ve been talking with people about challenging their people, their customers, and their entire organization.
But what about you, the leader? How are you challenging yourself in 2014? What are you going to do to step outside of your comfort zone?
Think about yourself as a leader. Where are you failing? Where could you improve? What are you going to do to develop yourself?
Maybe you’re organization’s vision isn’t clear enough, or compelling enough, or maybe you just haven’t communicated it well enough. Spend the next 90 days working on it. Push yourself.
Maybe there are too many elephants in the room when your management team gets together. There are very few things more damaging to an organization than a dysfunctional management team. How are you going to fix it? What challenging conversation(s) do you need to have?
Maybe you’re not happy with some element of your personal life. Maybe there’s something you want to start doing, or stop doing, something you’ve always wanted to do, or something you’ve just discovered. What are you going to do to make that change in your life?
Don’t be a hypocrite – when you challenge those around you, they’ll expect you to do the same to yourself. Step outside your comfort zone. Challenge yourself in 2014.
