Shane Jager, CPA

Partner

Shane knows and understands community banking and manufacturing. Starting as an intern in 1998, he leads our bank and tax teams today. He has concentrated expertise working with farmers, financial institutions, and closely held businesses, providing income tax, assurance, and business consulting services.

Shane has over twenty-five years of experience in public accounting, specializing in financial institutions, closely held businesses, contractors, agriculture, and other industries. He earned his BA in Accounting from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, in May 1999.

As the tax partner at Cain Ellsworth, Shane leads our bank and tax teams, providing comprehensive tax, assurance, and business consulting services. His extensive experience with community banks includes conducting Directors’ Examinations, audits, income tax planning and preparation, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance, and other transactional consulting services. Shane’s deep understanding of community banks’ unique challenges allows him to deliver tailored solutions that drive growth and stability.

Shane is also a respected public speaker, frequently presenting on various income tax and community banking issues. Industry professionals highly value his insights and expertise, and he is often invited to speak at conferences, seminars, and workshops. Additionally, Shane serves as a faculty member for the Academy for Excellence in Leadership, a leadership academy dedicated to community banks, where he shares his knowledge and experience to help develop future leaders in the industry. 

Shane is dedicated to delivering service beyond the numbers, aligning with our mission to help businesses and communities grow, prosper, and profit. His commitment to excellence and client success is evident in his personalized approach and long-term client relationships.

Outside of work, Shane enjoys spending time with his wife, Marci, and their two sons. They have two family dogs and love spending time in the Black Hills. Shane’s hobbies include golfing, hunting, playing softball, coaching, and watching his sons’ athletic teams.
